As the European Blockchain Association (EBA) is growing we would like to extend a warm welcome to our new member, the IOTA foundation. The global non-profit organisation is supporting the research and development of new distributed ledger technologies (DLT), including the IOTA Tangle. The IOTA Foundation will also actively participate in the EBA Proof-of-Stake Working Group (EUPoS) supporting our interdisciplinary approach to boost education about advanced distributed ledger technologies and to progressing the industry as a whole through self-regulation, standards-setting and the development of best practices.
“Innovating together and collaborating with our community to shape a new digital economy – this is what IOTA is all about. We are very much looking forward to the cross-industry exchange with all the forward-thinking minds assembled in the European Blockchain Association”, says Dominik Schiener, Chairman of the Board of Directors & Co-Founder of IOTA.
Built for the “Internet of Everything”
IOTA was created to redesign the way people and devices connect to share information and value, removing fees and enhancing trust. Like PoS networks, the IOTA Tangle aims to solve some of the fundamental shortcomings of blockchain: scalability, environmental sustainability, and cost. As an open-source protocol IOTA is built for the “Internet of Everything” and can connect the human economy with the machine economy by facilitating novel Machine-to-Machine (M2M) interactions, including secure data transfer and feeless micropayments.
“We are delighted that with the IOTA Foundation another major protocol has joined the EBA. As a neutral body we aim to represent the diversity of the blockchain ecosystem. With its unique design, IOTA is an essential part of it. We are looking forward to connecting ideas, people and technologies”, says Michael Gebert, Chairman of the European Blockchain Association.
