How can blockchain make a positive difference to our lives and the environment? Which of today’s challenges can it help to address? Questions like these are at the centre of the work done by the Blockchain Research Lab (BRL) in Hamburg, Germany. We are happy to announce that this innovative research institution has joined the EBA community and we are looking forward to exploring the technological developments and socio-economic impact of blockchain technology together!
Non-profit, independent, scientific guidance for decision makers
The BRL is a non-profit organisation aiming to further the general understanding of blockchain technology and related technology. It promotes independent science and research on blockchain technologies and their resulting challenges and opportunities as well as their socio-economic consequences by combining technical knowledge with economic and societal aspects. The BRL considers itself a platform for the development and exchange of perspectives, ideas, and solutions. It is important for the BRL to transfer knowledge to the economy and society. From cooperations with publicly funded research projects to scientific papers, conference contributions and speaking engagements, the BRL provides social, economic, and political actors with independent and sound scientific knowledge and insights to provide a basis for an informed decision making in the complex world of blockchain.
Staying ahead of the curve through meaningful collaboration
“Navigating the blockchain ecosystem can be overwhelming. Decision makers have to take many aspects – from technological to societal, legal, and environmental – into consideration. We want to support organisations and individuals with our independent and thorough scientific research. To stay ahead of the curve, it is essential for us to keep in close contact with businesses, public authorities, regulators, and developers. We very much welcome the opportunity to expand our network and look forward to collaborating with the EBA community”, says Dr Lennart Ante, CEO and co-founder of the Blockchain Research Lab.
“I have had the pleasure to meet and exchange ideas with members of the BRL on several occasions and highly value the team’s insights and input. We are excited to now intensify the collaboration under the roof of the EBA”, says Dr. Michael Gebert, Chairman of the European Blockchain Association. “Topics like ESG & Sustainability or the launch of regulatory frameworks require us to subsequently shift our focus – away from the purely technological perspective over to the users’ experience and views. BRL is a top address for this kind of work.”
