The textile industry: an old economy looking for new ways to do business

“The textile sector is a prime example of an industry that needs to undergo change, not only to maintain its position in the market but also to conform to contemporary ideals and the expectations of consumers.”, says EBA chairman Michael Gebert. “We are quite pleased by the organization’s proactive shift to new technology and management methods in order to accomplish this objective, and it is an honor for us to work with Gherzi on this quest.”

“Born in the turmoil of the first Industrial Revolution, shaped by the global drive of the textile supply chain, our industry has always needed the ability to transform and adapt to changing environments. Today, we are looking at many challenges ranging from changing supply chains and consumer behaviour, to new, sustainability-driven legislation, and a shortage of raw material and work force. Blockchain technology can help address these. Cooperating with the European Blockchain Association gives us the opportunity to work with many experienced experts and benefit from the broad, decentralised community. We are very much looking forward to the exchange”, states Anton Schumann.
